ISAs Overtake Pensions(05/03/2012)
For the first time since 2001/2, Britons saved more into stocks and shares ISAs than personal pensions last tax year. Figures from the Office for National Statistics released today showed that £14.28bn* was saved into personal pensions in the 2010/11 tax year compared to £15.837bn saved into stocks and shares ISAs in the same tax year. Upwards revision to Q3 UK Economic Growth, but Q4 is likely to be weak(29/12/2011)
The Office for National Statistics unpacked a Christmas gift for the British economy last week. It revised the previous estimates of GDP growth in Q3 2011 up to 0.6% from 0.5% quarter-on-quarter growth. From a production side, the UK owes its growth to services, while manufacturing is stalling. Household incomes rose slightly (0.3% q/q), but most of this was put away as the savings ratio increased from 6.4% in Q2 2011 to 6.6% in Q3. Households... [more]
